Consultancy

Mental health protection and grief support consultancy for organisations that want to lead differently

Most organisational mental health support is built to react. It waits for the crisis, the breakdown, the sick note, the resignation, and then responds. We believe in the opposite. Protection over reaction. Building the strategy, skills and culture that keep people well and supported before a crisis arrives, rather than scrambling to cope once it has.

The PERFORM Experience is a grief-informed consultancy and training provider, offering advisory and resources across two connected areas: protecting mental health and growing withgrief. The two belong together. Grief is not a bereavement issue. It is a mental health issue, a performance issue and a leadership issue. Around 20% of any workforce is grieving a significant loss at any moment, most came back after a few days of leave and said they were fine, and they weren’t. Unresolved grief alone is costing UK organisations an estimated £23 billion a year in absenteeism, presenteeism and talent loss, and almost nobody has built the infrastructure to address it.

Consultancy Led By Tabby Kerwin MAPP

Our consultancy is led personally by Tabby Kerwin MAPP; Consultant psychologist, Expert & TEDx speaker and PhD researcher. This is not off-the-shelf wellbeing. It is evidence-based advisory grounded in positive psychology, the PERFORM framework and decades of lived and professional experience. Tabby works directly with senior leaders, HR directors, chief people officers and wellbeing leads to move mental health and grief from an awkward afterthought to a properly resourced part of how the organisation performs.

What consultancy looks like

  • A grief and mental health strategy audit that shows you the specific, costed picture in your organisation.
  • Mental health protection strategy: building proactive support that prevents problems rather than only responding to them.
  • Bereavement and grief policy development that goes beyond three days of leave and a signpost to an EAP.
  • Leadership and manager advisory, so the people holding your teams together are equipped to support proactively rather than react to a crisis.
  • Culture and strategy work that embeds protection over reaction across the whole organisation, not just the HR function.

Why it matters commercially

You have probably already invested in Mental Health First Aiders. That matters, and we complement it rather than replace it. But MHFAiders are trained to spot a crisis once it has arrived. There is an entire category of employee experience that sits before the crisis, and after the acute grief period, that nobody is currently supporting. That is where performance quietly leaks away, and that is exactly where protection-led consultancy works.

“We don’t wait for the crisis. We build the infrastructure that protects mental health and lets people grow with grief, so it never becomes a performance crisis.”
