Our Story & Mission

Why The PERFORM Experience exists, and the belief that drives everything we do.

“Our mission is to help 7 million people PROTECT their mental health, GROW with grief and perform PERFORM at their best.”

The PERFORM Experience is a grief-informed consultancy and training provider, offering training, consultancy and resources in mental health protection and grief support. We work with organisations and schools to change the way the world responds to mental health and grief, because the current response, in workplaces and classrooms alike, is built to react rather than to protect, and it is not working.

Everything we do runs on one principle: protection over reaction. Build the support before the crisis, not after it.

The belief at our core

Grief is not a bereavement issue. It does not end with the funeral. It is a long-term mental health reality that affects every organisation, every school, every family and every individual. It costs UK organisations an estimated £23 billion a year. It affects around 20% of any workforce at any given moment. And almost nobody has built a proper infrastructure to address it.

We believe grief belongs in the mental health conversation, and we believe workplaces and schools must have grief strategies and support in place, not as a nice-to-have but as a need-to-have. Better support for people, and better performance, productivity and wellbeing, are not competing goals. They come from the same place.

The story behind it

The PERFORM Experience is led by Tabby Kerwin MAPP, consultant psychologist, expert & TEDx speaker and PhD researcher. When Tabby’s husband Simon died in 2018, she did not step back from her work. She stepped forward, using everything she knew about positive psychology, resilience and the science of human flourishing to not just survive her grief, but to grow with it. That lived experience, combined with academic rigour and the PERFORM framework she created, is the foundation of everything we do.

Tabby leads delivery across the business. Her son Olly leads outreach, into organisation and schools. Together they run two arms of the work: consultancy and training for organisations and schools.

What makes us different

  • The PERFORM framework: original intellectual property, built on positive psychology and proven in grief.
  • The lived story: expertise held not just in theory but in experience.
  • The research: PhD-level rigour that stands up in corporate and academic rooms alike.

No other grief professional brings all three together. That is what lets us build the infrastructure the world has been missing, and pursue a mission this big.
