Mental health protection and grief support training for organisations and schools.
Everyone has mental health, and everyone experiences grief. Almost nobody is trained to handle either well, in the workplace or in the classroom. Managers freeze when a bereaved colleague returns. Teachers worry they will say the wrong thing to a grieving child. Support arrives late, if at all, once someone is already in crisis. Here at The PERFORM Experience, our training is built on the opposite principle: protection over reaction, equipping people to support wellbeing before problems escalate, not scramble afterwards.
As a grief-informed consultancy and training provider, we equip the people who hold others, whether that is leaders and managers in organisations or teachers and pastoral staff in schools, with the language, confidence and practical tools to protect mental health and support grief well. Everything we deliver is grounded in positive psychology and the PERFORM framework, and everything is built around one belief: that people can protect their mental health, grow with grief and PERFORM at their best when they have the right support around them.
Two arms, one approach
Our training runs across two distinct arms, each designed for its audience but sharing the same evidence base and the same heart.
Training in Organisations
For HR teams, leaders and managers who want to build a genuinely protective, grief-informed workplace. We deliver mental health protection skills, grief literacy, compassionate conversation skills and practical strategies for supporting employees before, during and after difficulty, so mental health and grief stop being hidden drivers of burnout, absence and turnover.
Training in Schools
For headteachers, SLTs, SENCOs, pastoral leads and teachers who want to protect the mental health of pupils and staff, and who are preparing for the September 2026 statutory change that makes grief and bereavement mandatory content within the RSHE curriculum. We help schools become genuinely grief-ready and protection-focused, with confident staff, a clear policy and age-appropriate approaches from KS1 to KS4.
How training is delivered
- Half-day and full-day INSET and staff training, in person or online.
- Cohort and workshop formats for larger groups.
- Train the Trainer, so your own people can deliver grief-informed training independently and sustainably.
- Bespoke programmes for multi-academy trusts and larger organisations.
All training is delivered or quality-assured by Tabby Kerwin, and can lead into wider consultancy, audit and policy work where an organisation or school wants to go further.
